I’ll keep this brief. I’m due a free upgrade from my provider. I phone them, and tell them the phone I want.

“Sorry Sir, it’s out of stock. How about this one?”
“I don’t want that one.”
“But it’ll be free. The other one is chargeable.”
“How much?”

“But that’s ridiculous. If I go online, select the exact same tariff I’m on now, you’ll let me have it for £29.99.”
“We might be able to do you a deal.”
“OK, do me a deal.”
“I can’t Sir, because the phone is out of stock. You see there was a problem with the software, so there’s been a delay.”
“But {alternative provider} have it in stock. I could have one tomorrow.”
“We don’t have it in stock.”
“When will it be back in stock?”
“About 14-28 days.”
“So you’re saying you can’t do anything now because it’s not in stock.”
“Yes sir.”
“OK, I’d like to cancel my contract.”
“OH, OK, um, sir, let me see, er um.. {blah blah waffle blah waffle blah}… I do have some stock of the phone, I’ll do it for £29.99 and it’ll be with you in a week. How’s that?”
“Fine by me.”

Mr Howard’s immigration plans might be totally impractical, unworkable and bordering on outright racism, but it’s nice to see someone who is actually bothered by the ever increasing number of foreigners gracing our fair shores. As someone who sees his fair share of foreigners (either through living next door to the biggest bunch of rude, arrogant and obnoxious Polish people you’ve ever met, or through having to chuck pissed-up foreigners from a busy nightclub 4 nights a week), I for one, am sick of being made to feel unwelcome in my home country.

Why shouldn’t we have limits on the number of refugees (political or otherwise) that we let in to our country? I’m sympathetic to people’s plight, but it’s not my problem. I say get rid of them.
