I stumbled over it by mistake, when I found out at about the new Da Vinci code quest - you access the game via your “personalised homepage”. I’ve never bothered with these portal type sites before - never used Yahoo, or MSN etc. because they don’t interest me. I like to find the information I want to see, rather than be given recommend viewing.
But after playing with the Google homepage for a little while, I was quite pleased. It’s very easy to add channels - i.e., the blocks which deliver information to you - and there are existing blocks for popular sites, like BBC News, Sport, Reuters, Sky etc. But what’s really neat is how you can simply add an RSS feed and it appears has a block. OK, so its not a proper aggregator, but then it was probably never designed for that.
And of course you can quickly and easily do a Google search.
I’ll be trying it out in the coming days as my homepage - as long as it doesn’t take a weekt to load, then it looks like a lot of fun.
