Mates rates are a funny thing. Everyone is always looking for something to be done on the blag. If you can get it done cheaper, then you will. So when I was recommended a place to get tyres for my bike, I jumped at the chance of getting a discount “because I knew x”. And even when I spoke to the tyre shop they said that “cos you know x” I would get a further discount. He’d “sort me out”.
Bollocks. A little phoning around, and I found the exact same tyres (BT014s if you’re interested on my ‘99 CBR600) for a full £28 cheaper, fitted and balanced. Same deal. Lots cheaper.
