You're reading a really old version of matt-thornton's website. For example, if you're looking at the movie reviews... you'll notice that none of them are of recent films. Indeed, I leave them here for posterity's sake, but I doubt very much that they'll get updated anytime soon. So have a giggle.
You might, if you're lucky, find something recent from Matt at his blog matt's debates. Kernow bys vyken.
ok 4
There are 4 of them, and they do have some fairly fantastic powers, but there's nothing fantastic about the film. But had it been called "moderate 4" or "not bad 4", it wouldn't have had quite the same ring.
4 astronauts (and another) get blasted by cosmic rays whilst they're in space investigating, er, cosmic rays. When they get back to Earth, each of them has been endowed with a different special power. 4 of them (the fantastic ones) end up using the powers for good, the 5th, inevitably, uses it for bad. So the 4 fight the 1 and that's about it.
Yet another Marvel comic turned film, this latest instalment is possibly one of the worst I've seen. There's no question it's very slick, the cinematography is nice and the SFX are incredible. But it's all used to veil an otherwise dire filmm, which has little or no direction, poor acting and a bored outcome. Yes it is a superhero film, and all superhero films are the same, but there could be more to it.
Jessica Alba (with her fantastic pair) is a honey.. but that's not enough to really make this film worth watching.
