You're reading a really old version of matt-thornton's website. For example, if you're looking at the movie reviews... you'll notice that none of them are of recent films. Indeed, I leave them here for posterity's sake, but I doubt very much that they'll get updated anytime soon. So have a giggle.

You might, if you're lucky, find something recent from Matt at his blog matt's debates. Kernow bys vyken.

Final Destination 3

the one line review:

death gets cheated. again.

the overview

Final Destination 1 was crap, save for the moment where the bus hits the kid. Final Destination 2 was crap. Guess how was I feeling as I sat down to watch this? Fortunately, I'd had a lot to drink.

the plot:

Wendy (Winstead) has a premonition that a rollercoaster ride is going to go horribly wrong so gets off the ride. When the rollercoaster does go wrong, she has cheated death. Then the other people who also got off the ride start to die, leading to her.

the verdict:

It's exactly the same concept as the previous two films, and it's just as crap. It's quite blunt - Director James Wong has gone to town on the the deaths of the people involved, to such an extent that it becomes unbelievable. Well, not that the film itself was really believable anyway, but the deaths are so gruesome and far fetched, that it fails to do what many good horror films do.

The only saving grace of this film are the fit birds. Winstead is undoubtedly a honey, and famous for a role in a much more successful horror flick - The Ring 2.

There are also two bimbo girls who get the norks out as they go in to a sunbed (and then fry).

Other than that, it's shocking.
