You're reading a really old version of matt-thornton's website. For example, if you're looking at the movie reviews... you'll notice that none of them are of recent films. Indeed, I leave them here for posterity's sake, but I doubt very much that they'll get updated anytime soon. So have a giggle.
You might, if you're lucky, find something recent from Matt at his blog matt's debates. Kernow bys vyken.
just another Jim Carrey film
A remake of the 1977 film, starring Jane Fonda. It suits Jim Carrey well, but is a bit tedious... pointless, even.
Man gets fired from job, so he and wife turn to petty crime to earn money. Eventually he finds out why he lost his job so then plots to stitch that bloke up for $400m.
It's OK - I am, for my sins, a Jim Carrey fan, and I can't believe anyone is not a fan of Tea Leoni. Before writing this review, I didn't know it was a remake - I honestly felt like the film was written for Jim Carrey and any random female lead. Simply because this is Bruce Almighty, with a few different gags. There's nothing new here. I suppose it's a reasonably winning formula, Jim Carrey still sells films... but for anyone wanting value for money from their £6 at the cinema, you won't get it from this.
It is fun, and enjoyable, but only if you can get it in the ex-rental bin at your local vide store.
