about

You're reading a really old version of matt-thornton's website. For example, if you're looking at the movie reviews... you'll notice that none of them are of recent films. Indeed, I leave them here for posterity's sake, but I doubt very much that they'll get updated anytime soon. So have a giggle.

You might, if you're lucky, find something recent from Matt at his blog matt's debates. Kernow bys vyken.

Into The Blue

the one line review:

fast and the furious... underwater

the overview

It's inevitable really... Paul Walker has only ever been recognised for FaF and the TFTF films. So in this, another action thriller and cheesy lines, what is to be expected?

Well, Jessica Alba in a bikini, for one thing.

the plot:

Paul and Jess run a boat in the Bahamas and go out looking for treasure on the seabed. When his brother comes to stay, they go out for a bit of fun, and end up finding a long lost ship that peeps have been looking for for ages. Oh, and it happens to be right next door to a plane that crashed into the sea which had a bunch of cocaine in it. So in order to get the money to excavate the sunken ship, they decide to sell some of the coke, to someone... who just so happens to be the rightful owner of said coke. Ensuing struggle over who owns what and who owes who and the odd token death.

the verdict:

It's a film that makes you want to go to the Bahamas... the gratuitous scenes of beautiful blue water, white beaches... and Jessica Alba in a bikini. If you're a water sports fan, then it'll make you want to go and put your wetsuit on (even though in this there's not a wetsuit in site, there is Jessica Alba in a bikini, though).

The plot itself is obvious, and Paul Walker's acting is as hammy as in the FAF. But Jessica Alba does spend most of the film in a bikini, so it's not all bad.

Oh, by the way, here's a picture of Jessica Alba in a bikini.
