You're reading a really old version of matt-thornton's website. For example, if you're looking at the movie reviews... you'll notice that none of them are of recent films. Indeed, I leave them here for posterity's sake, but I doubt very much that they'll get updated anytime soon. So have a giggle.
You might, if you're lucky, find something recent from Matt at his blog matt's debates. Kernow bys vyken.
a film about music. and sex.
I've recently started renting films on the basis of what I see of them in trailers. I know this sounds fairly obvious, but I must admit, I've never really done this before, because 99% of the time, the trailers give absolutely no credible representation of what the film will actually be like. This one was claimed as a British film, with a bunch of British bands in, and two people who have a lot of sex.
Matt (Kieran O'Brien) meets Lisa (Margo Stilley) at a gig at Brixton Academy. She's an American exchange student, and he plays with glaciers.
The rest of the film is spent with them going to see bands, and having sex. Then she leaves and the film finishes.
There's nothing much to this film. There is a lot of sex in it. It's all pretty graphic as well, tits, fanny and cock all over the place. And all the sexual acts commonly associated with these body parts. This film is NOT a porno, but TBH, it may as well be.
I really don't get the point of the film, though. It's supposed to be a dissection of what it means to be in a sexual relationship with something, about enjoying sex and having fun. And that sex isn't wrong. But I really don't think that comes across (if you'll pardon the expression).
I suspect the soundtrack to this album is awesome - the film features live performances from some of England's top bands, like Franz Ferdinand, The Dandy Warhols, and others like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. (You wonder if the director anticipated the soundtrack being a way of making extra cash.)
So really, it's not much of a film. Some good music, and plenty of baps and flaps. She's quite fit, too. A bit too much cock in the film, tho, but what can you do?
And it's short too. The film, I mean. 71 minutes.
