You're reading a really old version of matt-thornton's website. For example, if you're looking at the movie reviews... you'll notice that none of them are of recent films. Indeed, I leave them here for posterity's sake, but I doubt very much that they'll get updated anytime soon. So have a giggle.
You might, if you're lucky, find something recent from Matt at his blog matt's debates. Kernow bys vyken.
you've nothing to lose by watching this
Fast talking comedian Martin Lawrence teams up with Tim "Shawshank Redemption" Robbins for this tooty-fruity romcom. With guns.
Nick Beam (Robbins) walks in what he thinks is his wife screwing his boss. He gets in the car and drives off, only to be carjacked by T (Lawrence). Only Nick isn't prepared to give up the car, and drives off at high speed.
After a lot of messing about, fighting and eventually male bonding, the two forge a partnership to ruin Nick's boss for good.
Though of course, when Nick finds out that his wife wasn't cheating on him, he has to find a way to put everything right to get his life back.
There's nothing special about the film - it's just a film that is really easy to watch. Martin Lawrence is funny as ever, in his usual style, from the Defjam Comedy meets Bad Boys days. Tim Robbins is as wooden as ever, though has a certain charismatic charm that makes the film enjoyable.
Nice, simple, uncomplicated stuff. And the director has a funny name. And Dr. Perry Cox from Scrubs (John McGinley) gives an enjoyable performance as a psychotic madman. Much like his role in Scrubs.
If you like Martin Lawrence films, you'll enjoy this.
