You're reading a really old version of matt-thornton's website. For example, if you're looking at the movie reviews... you'll notice that none of them are of recent films. Indeed, I leave them here for posterity's sake, but I doubt very much that they'll get updated anytime soon. So have a giggle.

You might, if you're lucky, find something recent from Matt at his blog matt's debates. Kernow bys vyken.

the overview

Two former Friends actors get together in this edgy thriller with dodgy glasses and a semi-serious theme.

the plot:

Courteney Cox is Sophie Jacobs, a photographer who goes through a trauma... only she's not really sure what the trauma is - it revolves around her boyfriend (LeGros) getting shot - but the event surrounding the shooting are at best hazy.

As the Police delve deeper, her memory returns to her, and the specifics of the case become clearer. Ultimately, there was a lot more to what she thought was real.

the verdict:

Courteney Cox was always hot-not-hot in Friends. In this she's a bit of the same - the speccy glasses make her look like a geek, but in a sexy kind of way. LeGros as the boyfriend was a bitpart actor from Friends. He's had other acting jobs, but he doesn't really make an impression in this. Fairly run of the mill.

The thing that saves this is the direction - Harrison does a good job of creating the tension. The filming is smooth, with enough cutshots of splattered blood and freaky shots to keep you going. It's not scary, though.

Enjoyable enough, it's a pleasure to see Cox doing something other than the shite that was Scream.
