You're reading a really old version of matt-thornton's website. For example, if you're looking at the movie reviews... you'll notice that none of them are of recent films. Indeed, I leave them here for posterity's sake, but I doubt very much that they'll get updated anytime soon. So have a giggle.
You might, if you're lucky, find something recent from Matt at his blog matt's debates. Kernow bys vyken.
It's actually not bad, seriously...
We all know that Keanu Reaves is a talentless fool who should have been put down at birth (except for The Matrix, maybe...). But luckily Sandra Bullock is in this, and she's very fit and sort of frolicks about in a little dress for most of it. Shame she can't act either...
This is great. Seriously. Jack (Keanu) is a cop (groan) who irritates some nasty evil bloke (Hopper) by foiling a plan to blow up a hotel with a load of people in. Anyway, Hopper plans a dastardly act that involves a bus with a bomb on it.
"There's a bomb on the bus!". Great.
The bomb will go off if the speed (you see where the title came from?) drops below 50mph. So it's a race against time for Jack to sort it all out whilst keeping a bus above 50mph in a busy american city. Can't remember which one but there were lots of roads, and people and an airport.
Oh and people aren't allowed to get off the bus, either.
So Jack has to get on and off the bus, go under it, figure out who the evil villain is and generally save the day.
It's quite an original plot really so fair play to that. I know Keanu and Bullock are pants actors but for a general happy go lucky action movie it's good enough. It does the job. It has cheese literally spilling out of it but it's worth a look, fo' sho'.
Just don't repeat don't even think about hiring the sequel. It is the epitomy of shite.
