You're reading a really old version of matt-thornton's website. For example, if you're looking at the movie reviews... you'll notice that none of them are of recent films. Indeed, I leave them here for posterity's sake, but I doubt very much that they'll get updated anytime soon. So have a giggle.
You might, if you're lucky, find something recent from Matt at his blog matt's debates. Kernow bys vyken.
proper welsh film boyo
Erase any expectations you may have had about what this film was going to be, because flat out, it's nothing like it.
The plot is typically Welsh - makes no sense. A bunch of Welsh people piss each other off and they all end up taking revenge on each other, involving arson, murder, copious quantities of drugs and plenty of sex, drugs and rock and ro... karaoke.
I can't remember any other Welsh films I've seen, but this is top notch. Full of one-line put downs that'll endorse your reportoire for months to come, it's a film of epicly Welsh proportions that's both funny and sick at the same time. Rhys Ifans is most famously known for his role in Notting Hill, but after this, he'll be bagging himself a variety of roles.
If you want to support British film then buy and enjoy this film- it's fucking fucked (much like Fatty's leg) but it's fucking brilliant (and weird and unusual).
Awesome.
