You're reading a really old version of matt-thornton's website. For example, if you're looking at the movie reviews... you'll notice that none of them are of recent films. Indeed, I leave them here for posterity's sake, but I doubt very much that they'll get updated anytime soon. So have a giggle.
You might, if you're lucky, find something recent from Matt at his blog matt's debates. Kernow bys vyken.

I knew what to expect. I got what I expected.
Meg Ryan is a cutesy owner of a love everyone we're real friendly bookstore. Tom Hanks is the evil guy who builds the chain store bookstores and puts the cutesy bookstores out of business. In business they hate each other, but in their personal lives they've become each others electronic penpals. Then they meet.
It's your run of the mill rom-com - nothing more than a love story that goes right, then goes wrong, then goes right in the end.
Totally predictable viewing but nonetheless passable. I have always been in love with Meg Ryan, I probably always will be. And whilst I don't really hold a candle for Tom Hanks, any film she is in is worth watching.
Do not be surprised that the director was involved in Sleepless in Seattle - the film 5 years previous to this of which this is a carbon copy. Even has the same actors.
Not a great film, but there are a lot worse out there.
