This Blog

This is being written from the future… around 2022 to be precise, but trying to capture the history of the site.

This blog has been through various incarnations over the last 25 years or so. It originated in the very early days of Geocities but actually on the XOOM platform. It was a hand-crafted abomination in Microsoft Frontpage.

At some point in the early 2000s it tried to grow up when it got moved on to the b2 cafelog platform, and lived there for a while.

Unfortunately I don’t have any of the content from its very early life.

There have been various domain names involved in all this. Around 2003, I had some philosophical witterings on another site which was running Wordpress, was merged in to this… and then later the whole lot was migrated back to WordPress.

The early days was mostly personal nonsense, inappropriate and very unfunny jokes and tech revelations which for the mostpart have been removed as it is frankly embarassing. One or two life events along the way remain. There was a travelblog which has stayed.

Eventually a technical blog I was writing was also merged in to this and the whole lot (4 or so separate websites) became this one.

This post is actually being written in 2022 as the whole lot is being moved to Hugo but as a starting point in case anyone does actually end up here wondering why there are places where it is not very cohesive. You may see references to other parts of the site that may have existed at some time. Much of this is now gone, although some of the funnier but not so weird stuff is gradually being brought back for posterity.

So now you know. If you want to know more about me, well, that would be a reasonable place to start.
